Once upon a time, in a far off land, two twins were born in hiding to the Greek goddess Artemis, and King Arthur Lavele (lah-vay-lay) the first god of creation. Neither of these two were supposed to have children really, Artemis having made a promise to her father, and Arthur being married to a horrid “woman”, Queen Idelline (ay-dell-een), the second (and last) creation god, but honestly, who’s to stop love? even a creation god can’t do that.
The twins were born early, the girl first, and the boy second. The second twin came out fine and healthy. However, the first came out a stillborn. The fates, knowing of the scandal, had decided to kill one of the twins. They came to a decision on the female, knowing that it would hurt Artemis most. The poor mother wept over her lifeless infant. Even the little boy, wrapped in a blanket, held by his heartbroken father was crying.
After they’d pulled themselves together a bit, they went to Luna Castelle (cah-stell), the best doll maker in their world (I don’t know why they chose dolls, but they did. It’s kind of a weird choice though). Luna was also very beautiful. She had golden shoulder-length hair, and stormy gray/blue eyes that, if you were given the right cold glare, were rumored to turn you to dust. Her usual white and gold toga complemented her dark complexion. Her hands were long and rough, with a delicate touch, and frighteningly quick reflex skills. some say that later on, she went insane after being imprisoned by the Queen for helping Artemis, and we’ll hear more about that later, but she didn’t have much of a personality, she did her job, and was done with it. She lived in a cave for gods’ sakes! I doubt she got many visitors at all!
When the distraught parents arrived at her door, she knew why they’d come. She took them inside, pried the infant’s corpse from her wailing brother’s tiny grasp, and set straight to work, using magic of all kinds to create a porcelain doll that looked just like the child. As she was assembling the doll, she took the child’s insides and, turned them all into precious gems, minerals, and metals. She then, carefully placed them inside the porcelain shell. All fit in well, except for the heart. The heart was now a small bead made out of a rare crimson gem called selenium (sell-ee-nee-um), and no matter how she tried, Luna couldn’t put it in. she eventually set it aside, and proceeded to fit the doll together. After placing the soul in, the little girl began to cry. A wonderful sound to the relieved parents. Luna placed the infant beside her twin, and they both instantly fell asleep. Luna gave the child’s heart to Artemis, explaining the situation.
Afterwards, the parents found a place on Dautren, the second moon, where they could hide the twins, who they’d named Apollon (Ah– pall-on) and Artemi (Ar-teh-mee).
